U9's Tornados win cup final

Worplesdon Rangers Tornados (under 9’s) have won the Junior Plate in their first year of competitive football. The Tornados beat Windlesham Warriors 2 -1 in a close game, but one which the Tornados mostly controlled. All of the 10 man squad made a valuable contribution with everyone playing really well, as individuals and also as a team.

The Tornados took an early lead, which we held for most of the game. Although Windlesham pushed forward our defence was on top and looked comfortable. The Tornados looked very dangerous on the break and had a couple of chances to extend their lead. With 7 minutes left Windlesham broke through and equalised. The boys had worked tremendously hard to that point and much to their credit, rather than being disappointed, they dug in and pushed for the winner. They got their reward two minutes from time, after a period of sustained pressure, with a scrambled goal from a corner.

Despite being very tired they had enough energy to enjoy their well deserved victory. The boys should be congratulated on a good end to the season. The improvement made by each and every player is clear to see.
